Weekend

Thursday and Friday I stayed on the floor with some pillows.  I was glad to have some novels to read.  Saturday and Sunday I rode in the rain to Millington to the armed guard/ concealed weapons permit classes.  I tore up some paper targets with a 2 inch barrel.  More time on the floor. ouch!

Ouch, ouch!

This time I totally trashed my back.  I had to have a cane when I wanted to walk yesterday.  Pain meds and muscle relaxers are helping.  I’ll return to work on Monday and I shall not lift a thing.  Period.

Saturday and Sunday I have to renew my professional firearm carry permit.  Blamo!  We are doing well.  Making it day-to-day and week-to-week.  Getting old is very depressing.  I’ve not come to grips with aging and living in a failing body yet.  I doubt I ever shall.

Riding for fun!

This weekend I got to sit on a CanAm Spyder. Nice and it made my butt look fast. Is it a 1 liter snow mobile with car tires and an electric shift tranny?

 CanAm Spyder

It was fun seeing Pam, Ted,Neil, and Lisa at the Midsouth Motorcycle show.

Riding season is upon us. I took the farm roads to Kentucky yesterday. A 290 mile day for me. Fun.

Feeling Better

Work, work, work.  My back feels better but not healed. Keeping as active as I can be and light stretching has helped me recover.  We had a 6 inch snow fall this past week.  By the time I got off work my scooter was buried.  Snow and ice prevented a safety interlock micro switch from getting the safe message.  I had to work on clearing the device for about 20 cold minutes before I could start the scooter.

The ride home was surreal.  The night was dark and the snow was blowing at 25 mph.  The roadway was 2-3 inches of slush.  I saw several 4 wheelers in the ditches and one of them was a severe injury accident. Two wheeler riders are always thinking of the danger and act accordingly.

The ride to work the next morning was very intense on 2 wheels.  The road way had 2 inches of hard packed snow and there was water on top of the snow.  There was little traffic on the road so I felt OK riding at a very slow speed.

The snow mass crushed the gazebo over the hot tub. Having Molly from Denver stay with us is great.

Riding

Yesterday, was a beautiful day.  75F, breezy, and beautiful clouds on a backdrop of crystal blue sky.  I saw hundreds of people out riding their bikes.  I saw at least 2 scooters a well.

After riding I headed over to Errol’s on the 1958 VBA Vespa 150.  I had Pumpkin in the dog carry pouch.  The old bikers, like me, talked about the bikes we had as kids.  Sears Allstate, Cushmans, and the like.  It was a great day.  Molly and I watched some rented DVDs from Blockbuster.  We viewed "Love Actually" and "Sweet Home Alabama." Fun movies.

Later last night, my back gave out on me.  I have to take it very easy today.
